Pickleball for a Cause:
Skin Cancer Institute Social
The University of Arizona Cancer Center’s Skin Cancer Institute has asked Tucson Area Pickleball to help spread the word about its second annual Pickleball Social — an afternoon of round robin play that raises money to prevent and cure skin cancer.
This is not a TAP event, and TAP is not handling registration or collecting any money for it. We are passing it along because it is a good cause, a good time, and it lands squarely on a subject every Tucson player ought to be thinking about.

Why this one matters here
We play outdoors nearly year round, often in the middle of the day, on courts that bounce the sun straight back up at us. The hours add up faster than anybody wants to admit. The Skin Cancer Institute works on prevention, early detection, research and community outreach, and most of what it does is aimed at people who spend their lives outside — which is a fair description of this club.
You can read more about the Institute at azskincancerinstitute.org.

Admission and raffle ticket purchases do not qualify as tax deductible donations. Questions about the event go to the event coordinator, Sabrina Plattner, at plattner@arizona.edu.
