The City of Tucson and Tucson Area Pickleball (TAP) will celebrate the grand reopening of the newly resurfaced pickleball courts at Udall Park on Thursday, September 10, at 8:45 a.m., marking an important milestone in a successful public-private partnership designed to preserve and enhance free public pickleball access for the Tucson community.

The reopening follows a newly approved five-year agreement between the City of Tucson and TAP that went into effect August 1st. Under the agreement, TAP is responsible for court maintenance, resurfacing, cleaning and future improvements. TAP has also committed to raising private funds for additional courts to meet growing community demand.

TAP is now undertaking an ambitious fundraising effort to raise $550,000 to construct six new pickleball courts at Udall Park. The planned expansion is intended to address growing demand and further enhance the park as a recreational resource for Tucson residents.

Councilman Paul Cunningham, whose ward includes Udall Park, spearheaded the effort with Tucson Area Pickleball to develop the Memorandum of Understanding between the City and TAP. Councilman Cunningham will be present at the grand reopening ceremony.
